Enjoy the serene beauty of the mountains and the sun on your face as you ski on fresh powder. The Snow Ski/Board cluster welcomes people of all levels, from beginner to expert. We will look into local trips, adventurous trips, racing, and more. This cluster will meet year-round.
Reminder: you are welcome to become as active as you like.
We offer both social meetings and ski trips.

a note from the leader

I started this group because I thoroughly enjoy skiing and the mountains. Going on ski trips with friends is the best and actually can make this more cost-effective (in some situations). I envision some weekend trips to Big Bear and/or Mammoth and hopefully a few bigger trips to Tahoe, Utah, Colorado or potentially even Canada or Europe. Depending on the trip, we could rent out a house/large condo, and cram it full of people, and on other trips perhaps have it more civilized :)

This group has a lot of potential and I want everyone to feel comfortable making suggestions or planning trips. The other ski clubs in San Diego are primarily for folks 60+ years of age, so not only are we the only young club, we are also the only Jewish one.

My goal is for this cluster is for it to become a community, a place to find like-minded ski or mountain enthusiasts. I want cluster members to feel encouraged to propose trips to this community… (planned trips and/or last-minute spontaneous trips). Cluster leadership positions available…

cluster update

Those of you who are new, welcome. I have posted this event on Facebook Events and since more than half of you are still not a member of our Facebook Group, I also posted an Evite event. I need you all to join Facebook and become members of "YAD Ski/Board Cluster - United Jewish Federation of San Diego" so I don't have to do emails, evites, and Facebook... I will fully transition to Facebook soon. Naturally some announcements will continue to go out through the YAD E-Newsletter every week.

The details of our inaugural ski trip are posted as an event in Facebook and Evite, so please look there for the details. The dates are 12 and 13th of January, come for one or both days, we will have fun Saturday night with those planning to join us for 2 days. Please RSVP soon, so I know what to expect. Invite others... all are welcome. We will be going local, Snow Summit in Big Bear. We will encourage carpooling (2 hour drive), if you need help finding or sharing a ride, let me know.

Tuesday, September 23, 6:30 pm - Join fellow skiiers and boarders for a fun social evening at Jose's Courtroom in La Jolla. We'll start planning our 2008/2009 ski trips and people will have the opportunity to lead individual trips! RSVP to Jason at jsnellis@hotmail.com.
